My Approach

As an integrative counsellor, I draw from various therapeutic approaches to create a tailored experience for each client. This allows me to offer personalised therapy that is flexible, holistic, evidence-based, and focused on achieving the best possible outcomes.

Mindfulness is at the core of my practice and I incorporate techniques into sessions. This aims to cultivate self-awareness, emotional regulation, and a deeper sense of presence. My goal is to provide a rich and therapeutic experience that meets the unique needs of each individual.

Session are held via Microsoft Teams or Phone only.

About Me

I have four years of counselling experience working with Cruse Bereavement Support.

Additionally, I am in my third year at Plymouth St Mark & St John University, studying Master of Advanced Psychotherapy & Counselling (MPsy). I believe continuous professional development is vital to remain up to date with counselling techniques and new research to provide the best for my clients.

Psychodynamic

Psychodynamic therapy is a talk therapy that explores unconscious thoughts, past experiences, and emotional patterns to understand and resolve psychological issues. Rooted in Freud’s theories, it examines early life influences, defense mechanisms, and transference to foster self-awareness and change. It is used for conditions like depression, anxiety, and personality disorders, typically in long-term therapy.

3.

CBT

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured, goal-oriented therapy that helps individuals identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors. It focuses on the connection between thoughts, emotions, and actions, teaching practical coping strategies to manage issues like anxiety, depression, and stress. CBT is typically short-term and evidence-based, emphasizing problem-solving and skill-building for long-lasting mental health improvements.

4.

Expressive Art

Expressive Art Therapy is a therapeutic approach that uses creative activities like painting, sand tray, and writing to help individuals express emotions and process experiences. It encourages self-exploration and healing, especially for those who struggle with verbal communication. This therapy is beneficial for reducing stress, improving self-awareness, and supporting mental health in various populations, including trauma survivors and those with anxiety or depression.

Let’s talk

Sessions

Session are held via Microsoft Teams or Phone only. The number of sessions needed varies for each individual because everyone’s journey is unique. While some clients may find that a single session is sufficient, others may require more time to meet their needs.

After a few sessions, you will have a clearer understanding of whether counselling is right for you. We will regularly review our progress together—typically every four sessions—to ensure the therapy remains beneficial and aligned with your goals. However, you are welcome to request a review at any point during our work together.

Frequently Asked Questions

What things can counselling address?

Counselling is a space where no issue is too big or too small. If something is important enough to bring you to counselling, it’s worth exploring. If it turns out that a different service might better suit your needs, I’m happy to help guide you to the appropriate resources.

How much do you charge?

For online services the fees are £40 per session.  Each session lasts 50 minutes and can be booked via email or phone.
Concessions may be available. Payment is required 24 hours before your session.

What to expect in the first session

Your first counselling session is designed to lay the foundation for our therapeutic relationship. During this session, we’ll focus on understanding your needs, goals, and any concerns you may have. We’ll discuss what has brought you to counselling, and I will ask you some questions to gain a clearer picture of the issues you’re experiencing. Additionally, I may use a standardized assessment questionnaire and ask you to complete a few forms before we begin our journey together.
